The Department of Soil and Water Technologies at Al-Mussaib Technical Institute – Middle Euphrates Technical University organized an awareness-raising training course on water scarcity in Iraq, its risks, and mechanisms for addressing them.
The course highlighted the major challenges facing the country in the water sector due to climate change, declining rainfall, declining river levels, and weak water resource management.
The course also addressed several topics, most notably: the environmental, economic, and social impacts of water scarcity and the importance of raising awareness about rationalizing consumption. It also discussed possible solutions, such as adopting modern irrigation technologies and enhancing regional cooperation on water issues.
The course was presented by Alaa Shalal, with the participation of several institute members.
