The Academics Syndicate, Babylon Branch, in cooperation with Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University – Al-Mussaib Technical Institute, held a syndicate symposium attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Malik Nima Hawas Al-Khazraji, Dean of Al-Mussaib Technical Institute; Professor Dr. Mushtaq Al-Khafaji, Dean of the Academics Syndicate in Babylon; Professor Wissam Abdul Abbas, representative of the Academics Syndicate at Al-Mussaib Technical Institute; and a number of institute staff.
The symposium included a lecture on sustainable agriculture by Dr. Mina Masaher Al-Jubouri, Head of the Studies and Planning Division.
She explained the concept of sustainable development and the goals of sustainable agriculture, such as:
1. Protecting the environment by reducing pollution and preserving soil fertility and biodiversity.
2. Achieving food security by increasing agricultural production through sustainable methods.
3. Efficient use of resources such as water and energy, while reducing waste and pollution.
4. Enhancing the well-being of farmers by improving income and working conditions and supporting family farming.
5. Adapting to climate change through technologies that reduce emissions and enhance crop resistance to drought.
The symposium also included a talk by Professor Dr. Mushtaq Al-Khafaji, the Syndicate’s President, about the Syndicate’s most important activities and achievements, and its role in addressing issues related to the reality of higher education and the rights of academics. Several proposals and recommendations were also put forward by the Institute’s faculty members to enhance union and educational work.
