The Department of Animal Production Technology at Al-Mussaib Technical Institute at Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University held a course on genes and their interactions.
The course included:
1. Introduction to Genetics
– Basic concepts about genes and inheritance systems.
– The difference between genes and chromosomes.
2. Gene-Environment Interactions
– How environmental factors (such as nutrition, pollution, and stress) affect gene expression.
– Case studies on the impact of the environment on the development of diseases.
3. Genetic Engineering
– Introduction to genetic engineering techniques such as CRISPR.
– Applications of genetic engineering in medicine and agriculture.
– Discussion of ethical issues related to gene modification.
4. Case Studies
– Presentation of recent research related to the interaction of genes with environmental factors.
– Discussion of real medical cases based on genetic information.
5. The Future of Genetics
– Recent trends in genetic research.
– Insights into how technology is changing the future of healthcare.
The course was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Hussam Hussein Alawi, with the participation of a number of institute staff and students.
