The Department of Water Resources Technology is unique at our esteemed university, Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, as it consists of two main departments: Irrigation and Drainage Technology and Water Project Operation Technology. This department contributes to graduating specialized technical personnel in the fields of irrigation, drainage, and water project operation. I encourage all department members to actively participate and contribute their ideas and creativity to achieve academic quality standards and institutional accreditation. I look forward to working alongside you to leverage your expertise and skills to drive our department to further success. The success we seek depends on cooperation, innovation, and teamwork. It also focuses on promoting leadership and openness to the outside world in an environment of noble values and mutual respect. Therefore, the role of the department's faculty is to provide a stimulating learning environment for students, encouraging them to excel, innovate, and contribute effectively to community service, thus qualifying them to become future leaders. Thank you all, and I look forward to working with you and achieving exceptional accomplishments in the Department of Water Resources Technology. I ask God for success and guidance.
Vision
The department's vision is to be a leader and pioneer in the field of modern water resources technologies at the level of education and scientific research, and in the use and management of these technologies. This is achieved by providing graduates with the expertise that qualifies them to participate effectively in water resources management in terms of planning, design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of water projects, such as irrigation and drainage networks, and hydraulic facilities such as dams, drinking water filtration plants, and treatment plants.
Mission:
The department's mission is to provide the workforce with distinguished technicians in the field of water resources engineering, serving development plans, contributing effectively to the implementation of engineering projects, providing scientific advice, preparing economic feasibility studies and irrigation project designs, and publishing sound research that supports the advancement of science and education. Furthermore, the department's mission is to provide technical services and contribute to solving current problems, particularly those related to water scarcity and increased salinity.
Objective
Graduate specialized technical personnel in the field of water resources (irrigation, drainage, and water supply projects). Develop methods for improving the properties of water resources to meet future water needs. Graduate qualified technical personnel to perform surveying work, including surveying agricultural lands and calculating earthwork quantities for irrigation and drainage projects. Develop creative skills in designing and analyzing hydraulic structures, identifying potential engineering problems, and finding optimal solutions prior to implementation using modern engineering software. Provide graduates with practical skills in monitoring and organizing irrigation work, determining irrigation water needs, undertaking, maintaining, and operating irrigation and drainage projects, and installing, operating, and maintaining modern irrigation systems.
